Steve In The Community
Steve
divides his time in the district between his offices in Boothwyn
and Birmingham. After Steve's district expanded to serve several
communities in Chester County, Steve opened a satellite office
in Birmingham to better serve his new constituents. Steve has
developed an aggressive district office outreach program and his
staff is eager to help constituents with any state related issue
or agency.
Steve holds regular town meetings and will speak from
anyone's home that wishes to host a Coffee Klatch for their
neighbors. Steve enjoys setting up a table at community Flea
Markets educating passer-byes about the state programs that
could assist them.
Additionally, Steve hosts meetings to assist local municipal
leaders or will bring representatives from various state
agencies to the district to address or expedite specific
problems. Steve's aggressive district outreach has earned him
praises from fellow Legislators.
Steve
In Harrisburg
Steve's time is divided between voting sessions and committee meetings most days in Harrisburg and working in his district offices in Boothwyn or Birmingham. While in Harrisburg Steve serves as Chairman of the Information Technology Subcommittee and serves on the House Firefighters Caucus, the Professional Licensure Committee, the House Liquor Committee and the House Appropriations Committee.
For the past ten years Steve has sponsored or supported legislation to ensure the quality of life for the residents of his district. Steve's worked to pass a comprehensive election code bill to ensure fair and honest elections free of intimidation and corruption. This election reform legislation would have also granted more time to have Military absentee ballots counted so the votes of our men and women serving our country would have their voices heard. The Governor vetoed this legislation, but later sign a version that removed many of the anti-corruption measures. Steve's efforts also led to a historic budget appropriation for Pennsylvania's volunteer fire companies, and supported legislation in 2005 that gave them an additional $25 million in state funding. He has passed budget amendments to increase funding for early intervention programs and to preserve the hazardous waste site clean up fund.
